Traditional Job versus Online Marketing Work

The biggest challenge I face when visiting with friends is them asking “What are you doing now?”.
In my attempts to conform to their understanding of traditional jobs I have tried to simplify my explanation. I still have yet to keep the majority from going glassy eyed on me the minute I mention
Online Marketing.

I discovered however, that when I am in a conversation with these folks, if I remember more about what their interests are and use those examples to integrate into the sharing (just as I have done all
these years in my offline work) they are able to grasp and maintain some interest.

I now live in a very small Oregon Coast community (Lincoln City Oregon). The folks in this area are unfortunately not up to speed with the internet other than checking email or looking at a few sites. They are at the point of knowing what Google.com is , however, they really do not understand all that it does or what it represents for online marketing.

Even more interesting was when I was out with my boyfriend this last weekend and his sister. We went to a local “icon” of a restaurant that was purchased by new owners 4 years ago called “Gracies Sea
Hag” in Depoe Bay Oregon. I had the opportunity to speak with one of the owners who happened to go back to school and graduate in 2003 with a computer science (?) degree. Of course he was very savvy on the php and other lingo. What was amazing was, even though the restaurant has a huge following, he did not feel it necessary to do an optin or develop more.

I am doing my best to promote the area I live in and that of course involves the local businesses. You all know that the best way to help our economy is to put money into our local economy. If everybody does that, we all get better. The most frustrating part for me is that all of these people, including the city site,visitor’s site (we are a huge tourist destination), casino site etc… are lacking in a professional and aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate site.

So, it should be no surprise to me, that when asked what I do and the majority go glassy eyed… it seems I have an entire “Market” wide open to me locally to help them understand what is really going on on the internet and how it can help our local business revenues and in turn our local economy.

Never assume that they do know what they are doing. It has certainly surprised me and helped me understand that all of my efforts will genuinely help my little place here on earth by helping others as well.

Hey, I just got done watching Jason Moffatt or Profit Moffatt on his ustream in his RV! It was so cool, just to listen to him share and he is so genuine.

He went on a little preach fest, much needed for more Internet Marketers to listen to…about being honest, giving real value, stop trying to rip people off and…

It is the buyer’s responsibility to stay away from those offers, stop complaining in forums or bad mouthing, it is up to you to be able to discern right from wrong, good advice on both sides.

I invited Jason to the Oregon Coast surfing and asked for an exclusive opportunity to interview and video the event. He said he would consider it.

All in all, it is always refreshing to hear someone who is authentic. Sad to say refreshing, however, Jason is right. It is up to each of us chosing to do business on the Internet to weed out the bad and stick with the good.

Being Sincere and Authentic in learning internet marketing has been a tenacious and rewarding personal experience for me.

There are thousands of less than sincere and genuine offers out there and it is easy for people to be mislead.

The great thing for me has been in meeting a great many of the authentic marketers, interviewing them personally and being able to understand what their mission is and how it fits into what my mission is.

Having spent tens of thousands of dollars in my online studies, I know how committed I am. What I believe will help many people is sharing those experiences, in an effort to save people time and most importantly, their hard earned money on less than genuine products and programs.

I look forward to sharing my interviews done on video of those amazing people I have been blessed to meet and get to know.

I have always been at ease meeting and getting to know people. As an Authentic Social Marketer, meaning being myself with a sincere and authentic intent to get to know people, I look forward to sharing what I have learned.

The Holidays are upon us…

Well folks, the holidays are upon us. It is that time of year to exclaim, “Oh my gosh, I can not believe how fast time flys!” In my online efforts to do internet marketing I have come to find that most days I have no idea what day of the week it is, let alone what the actual date is. I have become obsessed with accomplishing what I set out to do, which is to make money online in a legitimate business. For me, here and now, I have chosen to set up a substantial network of sites with cpa offers and good quality content in various niches. Several of the niches I am having fun with now does in fact surround these holidays that have snuck up on us, yet again

Since I have chosen to work and I most certainly have chosen to work online, at least this area of setting up the sites and putting content and ads on them is genuinely fun. I find myself thinking about the sites just as I would if I were preparing the Thanksgiving Turkey or even decorating the Christmas Tree. I am desperately trying to make everything just right, so that folks will see, feel and taste the love I put into each site. Yes, that is a bit obsessive, however I believe each one of us has a little bit of that characteristic within.

The part about the holidays though, I know is challenging for many. Lots of people get the doom and gloom because of memories of bad experiences or missing a loved one etc… To those people I say , “Get up, shake yourself a little, put on whatever music moves you, watch a cheery movie and drink something warm and fuzzy”… cuz life is too short to fret and there is enough doom and gloom going on in the world, you do not need to allow it all to affect you, you have the power within to enjoy even the simplest in life! So keep on smiling, even if it hurts to move those muscles, smile…

Name our kitten please…

Ok, so this is kind of a weird post, however, our newest kitten seems to not as yet displayed his name via his personality. I generally let the children (all taller than me now) name the newest member of the family. This young male (little guy) addition has us all stumped.

Can you help? He has the cutest little grey spots on his tummy and he loves to have his chest rubbed and the left side of his chin as well. He is super co-ordinated for his stature and very brave. He stands up to our “Honey” terrier mix and she has come to love him very much because of it… He was infested with fleas and even tho the product I used said nothing under 12 weeks of age, I used it and used it twice… he survived, thank goodness… those fleas would have sucked the blood out of him…

So, can you help us name our newest addition to our family?

I don’t often share email sent to me. I don’t believe in using everyone’s email as an opportunity to get on my soapbox, religious, political or otherwise. However, I like Ben Stein. And I find it refreshing to hear just a breath of sanity in this often seemingly insane world. I am simply sending this to you as something to think about. I truly believe he voices the feelings most of us have concerning our attitude toward our different cultures, religions, etc.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.

My confession :

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejeweled trees, Christmas trees. I don’t feel threatened. I don’t feel discriminated against. That’s what they are: Christmas trees.

It doesn’t bother me a bit when people say, ‘Merry Christmas’ to me. I don’t think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn’t bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu If people want a crèche, it’s just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don’t like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don’t think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can’t find it in the Constitution and I don’t like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren’t allowed to worship God as we understand Him? I guess that’s a sign that I’m getting old, too.. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it’s not funny, it’s intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham’s daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her ‘How could God let something like this happen?’ (regarding Katrina) Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said, ‘I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we’ve been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?’

In light of recent events… terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O’Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn’t want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbor as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn’t spank our children when they misbehave because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr Spock’s son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he’s talking about. And we said OK.

Now we’re asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don’t know right from wrong, and why it doesn’t bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with ‘WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.’

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world’s going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send ‘jokes’ through e-mail and they spread like wildfire but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you’re not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.. If not then just discard it… no one will know you did. But, if you discard this thought process, don’t sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Our Launch Tree Live experience

Have you ever been one of those people that hears about a seminar or event and said “Oh, wish I had known about that, I would have gone?”… LaunchTreeLive was “the” event held outside of Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada at the New “M” Resort and Spa…and it was one of those events that everyone would have benefited from.

We were blessed to meet up with ole friends and meet new friends as well. When I refer to friends, they come in the form of internet marketing friends, those people that are like minded and understand the trials and tribulations that are common in the industry and of course the successes as well.

I wanted to give a unique twist by jotting just a little note and maybe a pic or video of each of the people I had the pleasure of getting to know at the conference:

When we first arrived to register at Launchtree bright and early in the morning, there were only a few people there. Being early risers and of course anxious to get seats that we could both hear and see the speakers caused us to be especially early. The super neat thing about arriving ahead of the crowd is that you can get a feel for the room layout and feel just a little less intimidated by the Internet Marketing Gurus etc…

What made for a special surprise for us was seeing Randy Pryor of RandyPryor.com , we briefly met Randy in San Diego at Mass Control 2 hosted by Frank Kern. Randy is the nicest gentleman and immediately greeted us as though we were old friends. It helped us feel a great deal more relaxed to develop an immediate kinship. Randy proceeded to move to where we chose to sit and sat with us the entire conference. Not only is Randy quite the entertainer in and of himself, he was able to answer and share many different things to clarify points the speakers were discussing. It was not until the second day we came to discover that Randy himself is quite a successful businessman online. Talk about the tall silent type

We will treasure always the connection we were blessed to make with the Mr. Randy Pryor! Hugs sweetheart…

Too many times I have stepped away from writing this “first” post, thinking to myself that it must be perfect. In my 15+months of studying Internet Marketing for Real online and offline, one pleasant surprise was that we are all just people. Since my early years I have always been a perfectionist and would actually not do anything openly (share with others) unless I did it well. It did not occur to me until these last couple of years how valuable my years of work experience and people skills would be in this online world. I have my parents to thank for giving all us girls a phenomenal work ethic while we were very young. I have no doubts any longer that I am not alone in feeling not quite ready for so long and unsure as to when I should begin the sharing of and with others of my experiences…on so many levels.

My impression of the internet and any type business on the internet was not much different than the feelings people have of a car salesman or buying insurance. Many of us (unless you are in the business of car sales and/or insurance) have a distrust for the people and what they do. For me, it was so extreme I went out and bought a Saturn simply because I knew there was no hype, no sales pitch. So, the apprehension, paranoia and certain and complete distrust for anything online was not in doubt. I am certain that even today there are many people who feel the same, certainly my father is amongst those who will never believe there could be anything worthwhile, let alone legitimate on the internet. I hope to be the one that Daddy learns from this time around and prove there are real people doing real business online.

Well over a year ago, after making my first purchase online for what I believed was all I would/or could possibly need to do business online (Jeff Walker’s PLF 2.0), I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Matthew Bredel. Matt gave me a call, actually called me on the phone! He said he was excited that I had purchased the course and which of his “bonuses” did I want? His bonuses were amazing and thus my children naturally immediately liked Matt. He sent me an iPod touch. So now I had this really amazing PLF 2.0 and this really cool gadget, neither of which I knew the least bit what to do with…and I know I am not alone ( I just have the nerves/guts to admit it openly). When you are just starting out to learn the internet marketing world and trying to do business as an Internet Marketer, it can be challenging at best to deal with the negative people. Everyone is an “expert” about what you should do and what you should not do. You will find very few people that cheer you on and say “Just do it”!

My experiences in the last year have been fairly positive. Coming from a more traditional offline business world to the internet was only a change of mindset for me. I myself had it in my head that the internet was some magical place and that I must jump in and make my fortune right off just by being present. Not the case at all.

It takes persistance and tenacity and most of all hard work. I feel blessed to have found Word Press Direct and all that it offers to me in allowing me to do business on the internet. Those obstacles that I was most concerned with such as how to build a website? I look back now and realize how silly that thought was. Word Press Direct has phenomenal support and a Great Product. I am able to put up a site within moments. The team answers my concerns or questions (and there are no stupid questions) in a professional and timely manner and gives me step by step instruction.

The hardest or most difficult thing about getting started with a business on the Internet is trying to discern what is real or Authentic. I went from being one of those typical people who only used the internet to check my email and maybe look at a few sites of interest to digging way deep to find the answers to my concerns of starting a business on the internet. Boy, talk about enlightening. Be careful when you put a query into Google and then begin clicking on the links, you will get immersed for months trying to figure out a single definitive, when one does not exist. In my search I finally realized that I needed to narrow down or filter out everything that was not Authentic …

I wasted hours reading way too many Internet Sales Pages or Squeeze pages as I now understand them to be. In my reading however, something good came which was learning that there are real people doing real business on the Internet. Through my meeting with Matthew Bredel I was able to learn about Jeff Walker who is the Product Launch Formula GURU. At the time I had purchased that program I naively believed that IT was all I would need to Launch a business online. That of course was only partly true. I found I had purchased a very valueable program that was too advanced for me to even begin doing business online (YET)…

The great thing about Jeff Walker’s PLF 2.0 (that I purchased in 2008) is that he keeps his finger on the pulse of what is going on within the internet marketing World and keeps you as a PLF member updated as well. I was honored to have met Jeff Walker at Mass Control 2 in San Diego this year and to listen to him speak at the conference. This man is so passionate about his work and his knowledge of Product Launching is the ultimate in Authority. I know without a doubt that I purchased the best of the best with regard to Launches and that it will always be there for me to utilize.

So if I say to you, any one of you that may not feel as comfortable as I am with all people, just be yourself! I am hopeful that you can appreciate that we are all just people. We all eat food, drink fluids, take showers/baths, wear clothing for covering/fashion/protection, sleep/eat/breathe etc… you get my meaning here. They used to tell us in speech class to picture the audience in their underwear if you were nervous. Well for me, that was not something I could envision. For each of us there is that little something that gives us that boost of extra confidence we need in order to approach an uncomfortable situation. That thing that we reach way deep down inside and pull forward just in time so that we can ask that question we really wanted to ask, before it becomes too late. Rather than thinking of these business people that are making it big on the Internet as Gurus, try and realize, they are just people, just real people doing real business on the Internet. They were just like you and me at one point as well. Most of them are very humble and down to earth if you take the time to listen and interact with them. Sure they make big bucks now (according to them or their screen shots or whatever “proof” you need/believe). Is that what makes you want to meet those Gurus? Do you believe that if you meet these Big Boys, these internet marketing Gurus that the money will come your way? That you will be more popular? That you will be more liked? That you will have more authority in what you have chosen to do online? The Internet brings forth amazing opportunities for anyone wanting to do business online. After that decision, the Internet should never be thought of as any different than when you do business offline in a more traditional sense (storefront, etc.) You would naturally be networking as a business person. You would naturally be sharing with all potential customers what you have to offer them to meet their needs. You would be confident that what you have to offer will meet the need of the customer who walked in off of the street. Keep those thoughts in mind for your online business, always! My intentions for writing this came from perceptions of a great many of the people I was blessed to meet and visit with at Mass Control 2. It was such an honor to meet each and every one of you. For about the past 18months I have learned by reading on the Internet what Guru kind of means. Before deciding to do a business online, I had not really even heard the term. Now after attending Mass Control 2, The Event put on by The Real Frank Kern, I have seen the phenomena in play. Most people flock to the Gurus or want to be just like them, almost as it was in High School by wanting to be friends with the popular people, the in crowd. My experience in life which has been a great deal of human/public interaction is that people are just people, period. I went to Mass Control 2 knowing I would make sure and take full advantage of the opportunity that was being offered to me. Maybe for some of the people attending, they were in hopes to at least meet some of these Gurus. For me, I made a point to have natural conversation with everyone that I encountered. I did not differentiate between those “Big Boys”, those “Gurus” because that is not who or what or how my personal being thinks or feels or reacts. However, I must point out right now, I do understand it and I am not discounting it in any way if you are a person that has difficulty approaching people in general. I remember as a little girl one of my families friends asking, “Tanya, what do you want to be when you grow up?”. I thought for a brief time (and I was around 6yrs.old) and I said, “I want to be beautiful!”. I have always reflected on that time and realized that at times I may not have thought myself beautiful, however by most I am perceived as such because I am always smiling! Because I am always making eye contact. Because I am always listening. Because I engage in a conversation that allows, “ALLOWS”, the other parties to feel comfortable sharing. I also understand that this is not a natural ability for all people. Each person is a unique individual and they each have their own unique gift. Something that they know within maybe only themselves that they do well. Maybe some have not yet discovered that special something. I am blessed to have discovered the ability to genuinely communicate and effectively listen at a very young age. I know without a doubt that that is a special gift given to me. I have NEVER taken advantage of it. People are fragile human beings, tender (even the biggest Guru gets his feelings hurt if someone says something offensive or ignores them, they just don’t show it). I grew up working in the family business’s from age 6 thru 16. We were forced to deal with the public at large, as it were. We had no choices. Of course I enjoyed it. The whole customer service thing was a no brainer for me because I loved helping people. I loved being able to address a need and filling that need by my own actions, my knowledge of what needed to be taken care of. My Mother and Father were elated to say the least and continued to give me more tasks, less supervision and more authority as well. Even at an early age, my own parents recognized that I was able to be comfortable with all people. If there was an angry or disgruntled client, one that of course could not pay their bill, my Father would be standing in the back listening (just in case he needed to come handle the situation) and over the years came to realize that Tanya could handle them all. You may wonder why I would share that with you? I genuinely believe that to feel comfortable with any person or situation, you have to be as comfortable or aware as you can. I was raised never to lie! I can tell you that I do not lie, however, you have no basis of “proof” as is human nature to feel they need something. All I can give you is by example, just as I have been to my children, my family, my friends and all of my business ventures throughout the years. I am who I am and that is set in stone within me. I will tell you what I have ingrained in my children over the years. It takes way too much effort and energy to lie. I do not have that extra time to keep track of the non truth that I spoke to so and so in order to repeat it or elaborate on it.
