Tanya:
I am considering moving to Oregon (have lived in San Fran for a couple of year and Seattle for several months on a project).
I’ll be in the Portland & Eugene area at the end of the month.
Do you have any suggestions for me to help me truly understand what living in this area would be like? I am politically liberal and have lived abroad for a number of years. Upon my return to the DC area I find it too frenetic, too intense.
I am seeking a community with a sense of community.
I live in a very rural area of the Oregon Coast, called “Otis”… I like it because I have acreage, animals, lots of forest and wide open spaces… however, not a great sense of “community” as I believe you may be referring to.
There are many coastal towns and their populations are considerably smaller and yet they have that sense of community.
One that comes to mind and has lots of neat things, cultural, and great eateries night life, beach combing, hiking, biking, surfing, everything artsy fartsy and it is gorgeous: http://cannonbeachoregoncoast.com ( please tell me what you think? )
would love to hear from you primary tascer at g mail dot com
