Ok, so a bit of a weird title, but women do influence other women and I find myself connecting with them which does in fact motivate me in my slumps.
Being self employed is an ongoing challenge of being motivated to do the work necessary without having that traditional boss or manager looking over your shoulder.
It is great to know that there is no ‘right way’ to do things, just as long as those things get done.
My weakness lay in jumping about to do those things that are both difficult and easy.
Many times I jump into something way out of my area of expertise just to force myself through the entire process and learn that difficult task. Just this week, I taught myself finally, how to actually use my iPad and all of it’s wonderful apps and abilities. The fun thing was learning how to actually sync my iPad to my iMac and iTunes and be able to listen to podcasts from my iPad !
Yes, there are many folks out there who are so techie savvy. I am not, or rather was not, because I had teenagers, thank you very much! Alas, now it is up to me to learn to do for myself what I fought off gratefully for so many years. It was much easier to give a hug and a kiss to my teenage heros …
So, in my learning I found the neatest podcast of two gals just sharing, almost like being able to listen to a private conversation, without anything held back, of natural conversation between two professional women of influence in Internet Marketing. These gals hold nothing back and there is lots of laughter, lots of genuine relatable feelings. That stuff that us women, and some men, can really relate to and get motivated by hearing. Lisa Hartwell and Allison Reynolds have had their “The Trouble with Freedom” podcast going for some time, I am just delayed in figuring out … so I have listened to the first 3 sessions and had to share how great it is to actually listen to these gals and how motivating!
Internet Marketing is a lonely business when you work from within your home office. I am excited that in the wee hours, if I need to listen to someone share, the possibilities are endless, now that I know how to find, subscribe, download podcasts onto my iPad and iPhone and even my iPod
So, I am definitely connecting to motivate me to follow through and get’er done!

Wow, 50 years ago and five minutes my sister and I came into this world in a small little Texas town on Saint Valentine’s Day … no this is not a life story rambling and it certainly is no fairy tale … more so a realization that I now have a half century of experience, plus 5 minutes under my belt.

Being a look to the good kind of gal, is the glass half empty or half full ?

When they say time goes by so fast, I lived it fully, as I was supposed to … and I treasure the people & places I experienced throughout the first half.

It is interesting to me that I was never intended to be any one particular anything. I have had many unique and rare experiences that allowed me to expand my thinking and even my children’s learning … and broaden the horizons …

ok, no rambling.

I was thinking of a seminar where the speaker asked the audience to write down what they would do if they knew they only had one hour to live? It is that that I focus on in the next half century.

This whole Internet Marketing thingy is yet another adventure in my life and I enjoy it thoroughly. I am not looking to conquer the world. I look forward to being able to meet more neat people, touch a few lives and learn a whole bunch of new things always.

In my wildest dreams of what I would be or what I would do when I grew up, never did I think I would be surfing for a living.

Almost half a century old, and now I am a surfer.

Kind of amazing, even considering the play on words.  Yes I surf the internet, seeking knowledge, seeking understanding, seeking whatever

wave of new bright shiny objects or trends are influencing others surfing the internet.

For me, the surfing is a challenge because I tend to be too regimented in my attempts of randomness. Meaning, the young people do have an

advantage, they are more free in the internet exploring or surfing the web.  My daughter came home from college last year and taught me so very

much of what a true internet surfing experience should be.  For instance, how many of you have actually used StumbleUpon and just gone stumbling? I thought it was so amazing

to just let my mind wander to anywhere and really take in the amazing sites that were randomly (?) presented to me every time I clicked my little stumble button.  Then my daughter

showed me how she loves to search Etsy.com for all sorts of neat whatevers, again another site I had never come across. The creative free flowing authentically genuine and random

way in which my daughter surfs the internet is what I had been trying to force myself to learn or understand .

Kind of funny how I surf for a living and my daughter is the professional surfer

So, the moral of the story:

If you want to find out what is in your prospects mind (depending on what you may be trying to sell on the internet), you are going to have to just get out there and take the plunge! Get your feet wet and really allow yourself to go for the big wave of surfing the internet with your mind wide open to all of the possibilities.

I am working on becoming a better surfer, which is truly obscene.  I have to teach myself how to let go and just enjoy the experience, something my daughter in her wisdom does naturally and regularly.

So, surfs up dude, see you out there!

This is a weird topic for me to even begin to write about.

However, while I was innocently updating some of my sites, everything went bye-bye. Then I checked on some other sites of mine, and they all had this to say : ” Error establishing a database connection ”

Well, for a non techie person, this was way out there on my realm of understanding.  My manager was actually sleeping, so I had to address the issue. I decided I would contact the hosting company direct.

Got on live chat and they started asking me basic questions:

1. What is the email you login with?  ( my answer:  I have no idea)
2. Have you tried logging into your whm?  ( my answer: I have no idea)
3. Are you able to get into the ftp ? or something something ? ( yes, you know my answer

The amazing part about all of this is I happened to be on a Skype chat with a gentleman I call my friend, Jonathan van Clute.  Jonathan immediately clicked into his help mode, which he does naturally

all the time.  So when Jonathan started asking me questions , it was much easier to address and actually have me not go glassy eyed trying to figure out what the ?

Well, my server is back up and then I get this info from the support person:  ” Alright, that VPS is at its inode limit of 1,000,000 I have made a change so you are able to clean/clear some files to get it back down. So please remove some of your files if you can.”  Well, guess what my answer was ?  I have no idea …

Then my dear friend gives me the details of what my dear manager will need to do, thank you God .

Now I am certain that many folks would say, well, you should learn how to do it yourself.  If there is at least one word of wisdom I can say from me:  I know my limitations and this is one of those tasks I choose to delegate always.

So Dedicated Server or VPS?  Jonathan tells me he believes in dedicated and he loves the company he has recently transitioned to.  My issue, I just went thru the hosting nightmare from hell, can not even imagine changing everything again

To all you folks out there thinking hosting is no big deal, I say to you:  I thought it was no big deal too, what the heck? you just pay more money for a bigger plan and life is good, ha!

I will leave you with this, it sure does pay to have good friends.  I have always loved being able to utilize the knowledge and leverage the resources of my friends knowledge …

So to the amazing and phenomenal Mr. Jonathan van Clute, great big hugs and smiles going out to you dear sir!

The biggest challenge I face when visiting with friends is them asking “What are you doing now?”.
In my attempts to conform to their understanding of traditional jobs I have tried to simplify my explanation.  I still have yet to keep the majority from going glassy eyed on me the minute I mention
Online Marketing.

I discovered however, that when I am in a conversation with these folks, if I remember more about what their interests are and use those examples to integrate into the sharing (just as I have done all
these years in my offline work) they are able to grasp and maintain some interest.

I now live in a very small Oregon Coast community (Lincoln City Oregon).  The folks in this area are unfortunately not up to speed with the internet other than checking email or looking at a few sites.  They are at the point of knowing what Google.com is , however, they really do not understand all that it does or what it represents for online marketing.

Even more interesting was when I was out with my boyfriend this last weekend and his sister.  We went to a local “icon” of a restaurant that was purchased by new owners 4 years ago called “Gracies Sea
Hag” in Depoe Bay Oregon.  I had the opportunity to speak with one of the owners who happened to go back to school and graduate in 2003 with a computer science (?) degree.  Of course he was very savvy on the php and other lingo.  What was amazing was, even though the restaurant has a huge following, he did not feel it necessary to do an optin or develop more.

I am doing my best to promote the area I live in and that of course involves the local businesses.  You all know that the best way to help our economy is to put money into our local economy.  If everybody does that, we all get better.  The most frustrating part for me is that all of these people, including the city site,visitor’s site (we are a huge tourist destination), casino site etc… are lacking in a professional and aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate site.

So, it should be no surprise to me, that when asked what I do and the majority go glassy eyed… it seems I have an entire “Market” wide open to me locally to help them understand what is really going on on the internet and how it can help our local business revenues and in turn our local economy.

Never assume that they do know what they are doing.  It has certainly surprised me and helped me understand that all of my efforts will genuinely help my little place here on earth by helping others as well.

Being Sincere and Authentic in learning Internet Marketing has been a tenacious and rewarding personal experience for me.

There are thousands of less than sincere and genuine offers out there and it is easy for people to be mislead.

The great thing for me has been in meeting a great many of the authentic marketers, interviewing them personally and being able to understand what their mission is and how it fits into what my mission is.

Having spent tens of thousands of dollars in my online studies, I know how committed I am. What I believe will help many people is sharing those experiences, in an effort to save people time and most importantly, their hard earned money on less than genuine products and programs.

Well folks, the holidays are upon us. It is that time of year to exclaim, “Oh my gosh, I can not believe how fast time flys!”  In my online efforts to do Internet Marketing I have come to find that most days I have no idea what day of the week it is, let alone what the actual date is.  I have become obsessed with accomplishing what I set out to do, which is to make money online in a legitimate business.  For me, here and now, I have chosen to set up a substantial network of sites with cpa offers and good quality content in various niches.  Several of the niches I am having fun with now does in fact surround these holidays that have snuck up on us, yet again

Since I have chosen to work and I most certainly have chosen to work online, at least this area of setting up the sites and putting content and ads on them is genuinely fun.  I find myself thinking about the sites just as I would if I were preparing the Thanksgiving Turkey or even decorating the Christmas Tree.  I am desperately trying to make everything just right, so that folks will see, feel and taste the love I put into each site.  Yes, that is a bit obsessive, however I believe each one of us has a little bit of that characteristic within.

The part about the holidays though, I know is challenging for many.  Lots of people get the doom and gloom because of memories of bad experiences or missing a loved one etc…  To those people I say , “Get up, shake yourself a little, put on whatever music moves you, watch a cheery movie and drink something warm and fuzzy”… cuz life is too short to fret and there is enough doom and gloom going on in the world, you do not need to allow it all to affect you, you have the power within to enjoy even the simplest in life! So keep on smiling, even if it hurts to move those muscles, smile…

Too many times I have stepped away from writing this “first” post, thinking to myself that it must be perfect.  In my 15+months of studying Internet Marketing for Real online and offline, one pleasant surprise was that we are all just people.  Since my early years I have always been a perfectionist and would actually not do anything openly (share with others) unless I did it well.  It did not occur to me until these last couple of years how valuable my years of work experience and people skills would be in this online world.  I have my parents to thank for giving all us girls a phenomenal work ethic while we were very young.  I have no doubts any longer that I am not alone in feeling not quite ready for so long and unsure as to when I should begin the sharing of and with others of my experiences…on so many levels.

My impression of the internet and any type business on the internet was not much different than the feelings people have of a car salesman or buying insurance.  Many of us (unless you are in the business of car sales and/or insurance) have a distrust for the people and what they do.  For me, it was so extreme I went out and bought a Saturn simply because I knew there was no hype, no sales pitch.  So, the apprehension, paranoia and certain and complete distrust for anything online was not in doubt.  I am certain that even today there are many people who feel the same, certainly my father is amongst those who will never believe there could be anything worthwhile, let alone legitimate on the internet.  I hope to be the one that Daddy learns from this time around and prove there are real people doing real business online.

Well over a year ago, after making my first purchase online for what I believed was all I would/or could possibly need to do business online (Jeff Walker’s PLF 2.0), I had the pleasure of making the acquaintance of Matthew Bredel.  Matt gave me a call, actually called me on the phone!  He said he was excited that I had purchased the course and which of his “bonuses” did I want?  His bonuses were amazing and thus my children naturally immediately liked Matt.  He sent me an iPod touch.  So now I had this really amazing PLF 2.0 and this really cool gadget, neither of which I knew the least bit what to do with…and I know I am not alone ( I just have the nerves/guts to admit it openly).  To me the best part of all of it was the amazing opportunity to speak with Matthew Bredel.  He gave me some great advice and I have done my best to learn by listening (very difficult for an experienced business woman who was certain there must be a shortcut).  Matthew Bredel said just start doing it Tanya!

Matthew Bredel also indicated that I should stop studying so much and begin implementing.  I was not certain what that meant however, being the tenacious woman that I am, I can tell you that it caused me to take action.  I realized that Matthew had given me genuine and sincere solid advice.  He naturally could not tell me exactly what would work for me and he certainly did not tell me I would get rich over night.  Matthew Bredel is the type online businessman that many of us hope to become.  He is honest, direct, consistent and a great teacher.  Most importantly Matthew is giving great value and running a real Internet Marketing business offering real internet marketing tools that work!  For those of you who have not had the opportunity to see Matt in action please visit his amazing sites NETWEBVIDEO and TheWebReviewer …  I have watched a huge majority of Matt’s videos and been able to implement the tasks immediately.  Matt is so detailed and shows you exactly each step of the way how to accomplish those things that sometimes can be overwhelming to those of us that are not techies!  Recommend every single person take a look, you will all find great value!  and…

We tend to get caught up in what the other guy is doing on his or her site. We think of them as our competition.

It is time to realize you must be yourself in all you do and forget about the other guy.

If you produce/write original content and have a good clean site that is fully functioning and it is optimized with all of the proper plugins configured and you put your best efforts forward, that is what you must focus on. Being the best you can be, not copy catting what the other guy is doing. Of course there will be times where the examples of sites that you know are doing well will be invalueable for you to reference their setup and what they have implemented.

The internet is a vast and huge place. If you have done your market research and done your keyword research and really focused on a niche that you can rank well in, you will do well with original and regular content.

We use Market Samurai for one of our primary research tools and it has been amazing at giving us a great deal to work with. The gentleman at Noble Samurai are truly on top of market research and they keep Market Samurai up to date , it is a phenomenal tool and I would say is a must have.

We all learn by doing. We learn from trial and many errors. You will not learn how to do something that is profitable and fun on the internet if you do not step out and try something, anything. As time goes you will pick up on the details of your stats from google analytics, demographics studies and individual keywords that you are ranking for. You continue to build from there.  

People will come if you build it (correctly) … However, the key is to have them come back again and again.

Keep it real, keep it original, keep it focused and always give value to your readers, your fans …
